Hello my loves,
Happy Monday! It’s been a long seven days. I’ve missed you. I’m hoping you are all well. Today, we have a health and wellness topic. There are many conflicting views about the use of vitamins and supplements. My beliefs are in moderation, and as instructed by the leaflets and the opinion of health care professionals, they can have many benefits. I also believe that you should not take them ‘just because'. The usage should be intentional e.g. low levels of vitamin D, joint pain, fatigue. I have curated a list of common vitamins and their information, just for your knowledge.
Please read packaging to understand dosage and consult a health care professional if your pregnant or severely unwell.
Happy Reading!
1. Biotin
Biotin increases keratin production and keratin is directly linked with hair and nail growth! Internally, biotin benefits your nervous system, liver and eyes. It also helps manage symptoms of diabetes. It can also be known as vitamin B7.
2. Vitamin D
Vitamin D helps protect your bones and muscles! The strength of your bones is very important. They support your body and help with healthy growth and movement. Especially for my active girlies, it is important that you focus on your bone health just as much as your muscle health. Vitamin D can also help with your energy levels, mood and focus. You may have low levels of Vitamin D and not know. This can be checked by getting a blood test done.
3. Collagen
Collagen supports the production of connective tissue. Lack of collagen means that our body loses strength and elasticity, this is vital for us to function healthily. Taking collagen supplements can help with skin elasticity, increased cell growth and improved heart health. As we age, collagen may be something to consider to make the ageing process more graceful! If you are pregnant, consult a doctor.
4. Multivitamins
Multivitamins are a great way to ease yourself into taking vitamins. You should look for some that include Vitamins C, B6, B12 for metabolism. Zinc for fertility and vitamin A & B2 for vision. Multivitamins support immunity, bone health, your muscles, skin and more! They are a one stop shop and may be a good place to start. My suggestion is Alive’s Women’s Gummy Multivitamin.
5. Iron
Do you find yourself sleepy and tired constantly? This could be due to a lack of iron. You can gain Iron naturally from vegetables, red meat and other foods. However, if you are unwilling or unable to incorporate iron-rich foods in your diet you can consider supplements. The benefits of iron include increased haemoglobin, a better immune system, improved sleep quality, reduced fatigue and a better memory. It also helps with you skin and dark circles! Iron quite literally oxygenates your blood and is extremely necessary for good health.
Remember take vitamins and supplements in moderation and as instructed. Too much of anything is not good for you and can have serious consequences to your health!
Use this week to focus on ageing gracefully and put your health first!
With Love,
