Hello My Loves,

Hope you’ve all had a wonderful week!

Week 2 into our new schedule and as promised we have a ‘Food for Thought’ Topic. Something that maybe you should stop, think and consider! Sexy, Elegant, Impactful will always be your go-to for navigating life and looking good doing it! We hope you enjoy this read!

Our question for you today is…Do you truly love your style, or are you just addicted to the thrill of a new purchase? A recent post by Marie Clare got me thinking… Is “No Spend January encouraging women to find their personal style?”

Hi I’m Justine, and I’m a shopaholic! Most of the time, on a night out, I stare into my wardrobe, half-expecting to find a perfectly styled outfit, and I never do.  So, in a moment of financial panic and fashion fatigue, I decided to go on a spending ban. No new clothes, no impulsive Zara hauls, no late-night ASOS binges. Just me and the clothes I already owned. Terrifying, right? But here’s the plot twist: not shopping actually helped me finally figure out my personal style.

1. I was forced to face my wardrobe

This started with disappointment and ended with Vinted. With no new purchases to distract me, I had to actually look at what I already owned. And wow—what a mess.  I realised that my real style had been buried under a pile of trends, but after sifting through the madness, I started to notice patterns. A series of wardrobe staples and statement accessories that can be mixed and matched. The possibilities felt endless.

2. No more panic-buying

When I got back to spending, I had this immediate sense of style clarity. I had a clear picture of what was in my wardrobe and how what I am buying can compliment the items I already have. I also had a clear picture of how everything made me feel. KWEZI advocates for fashion with feeling so this really hits home. I wasn’t being told by social media what I needed to wear but I was leaning into the black dress that made me feel good.

3. I got creative

When you can’t shop, you have to get scrappy. Suddenly, I was layering pieces in new ways, experimenting with accessories, even repurposing old items. That “meh” dress? Belted and worn as a top. That oversized button-down? Now my favourite lightweight jacket. I started to realise that great style isn’t about having more—it’s about doing more with what you already have.

4. I built confidence

At some point, something clicked. I no longer felt the urge to buy something just because it was trending. I wasn’t dressing to impress Instagram—I was dressing for me. And for the first time, I actually liked my style.

Oh, and the money I saved? Let’s just say my future self thanks me for not blowing it all on another top I’d wear twice.

In conclusion, a spending ban forced me to work with what I have and learn so much about myself. So, if you feel like your style is all over the place, maybe the answer isn’t another shopping spree. Maybe it’s just giving yourself a break from the noise and realising that you are what makes your style unique.

Would you ever try a spending ban? Or is the thought of it making you sweat a little? Let me know!

Use this week, to take a look into your wardrobe and discover who you are!

With Love,

-JK x
